Is CrowdHealth insurance?

No. It is a medical crowdfunding + advocacy platform. It is also not a faith-based health sharing ministry. Funding of eligible bills is not legally guaranteed.

Does it satisfy Minimum Essential Coverage or state mandates?

No. It does not satisfy MEC or state individual mandates. Residents of CA, DC, MA, NJ, RI, VT (and any other mandate jurisdictions) should not treat membership as mandate compliance.

What does it cost?

Company-reported shape: $60/person/mo advocacy fee plus a variable crowdfunding ask (capped: 0-54 up to $140; 55-64 up to $280; family 4+ up to $420). Published average ~$142/mo for an individual under 55. Member commitment: $500 per eligible event; $3,000 for eligible maternity. Our family anecdote is ~$700/mo. personal, not a quote.

What is the member commitment?

The amount you pay first on an eligible health event ($500 standard; $3,000 global pregnancy). After that, eligible remaining expenses may be crowdfunded. Not a deductible in the insurance-law sense. different product.

How does maternity work?

Eligible maternity = one Global Pregnancy event with a $3,000 member commitment (prenatal + delivery + postpartum). If expected delivery date is < 300 days after mother’s membership start, maternity is not eligible for crowdfunding. Newborn standard care (first 6 months) is a separate event with a $500 commitment when baby is added. Never treat this as drop-in pregnancy insurance.

Who cannot join?

Hard gates commonly include tobacco history rules, weight limits (220 lb female / 260 lb male; kids exempt), age (65+ not accepted; primary 18+), and pre-existing timing rules. Verify current FAQ wording before deciding.

Is this a classic affiliate site?

Can I pay the membership fee with an HSA?

Per CrowdHealth FAQ framing, the membership / advocacy fee is not HSA-fundable. If HSA premium strategy is your priority, this model may not fit.

Will my bills definitely get paid?

No legal guarantee. Crowdfunding is voluntary. Evaluate risk tolerance honestly. If you need contractual certainty, buy insurance.
